Vice-President - Product Development

Michael D. Collier, Vice-President of Product Development, joined Rock Solutions in May 2002.  He has over 21 years of experience in the product design of automotive and aerospace components having been previous employed at Pratt & Whitney, Williams International, General Motors Corporation, and Bohn Engine & Foundry.   Michael’s  experience has been directly associated with engineering simulations supporting the product design environment.  His simulation background includes experience with CAD software including Unigraphics and ProE and CAE software including Abaqus, Ansys, Nastran, and Marc for finite element analysis, and Fluent and Star-CD for computational fluid dynamic analysis.

Michael’s most recent experience at Pratt & Whitney was associated with streamlining of CAE processes to provide timely CAE simulations supporting the product design cycle, leading the development of design optimization systems using optimization software and parametric CAD models, and developing a probabilistic design system.

His overall experience has evolved from the perspective of supporting the product design cycle.  This background provides an extensive knowledgebase relative to design process, component functionality and loadings, and structural design criteria.  This knowledgebase was gained through Michael’s interaction with the design, engineering test and product support functions.

Michael is a graduate of Lawrence Technological University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers.  He has also served on the ANSYS Advisory Committee.
